Mrs. Eliza Wade Smock, 87 years old, a resident of Indianapolis for approximately half a century, died yesterday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. CG Evans, New Augusta, RR 1.  Funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning in the undertaking establishment of Shirley Brothers. Burial will be in Crown Hill cemetery.  Mrs. Smock was the widow of IN Smock, a letter carrier working out of the Indianapolis post office for more than 36 years. She was born in Crawfordsville the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. IF Wade.  Her father established the first newspaper in Crawfordsville, the Record, and served as editor of it for many years.  Mrs. Smock became a school teacher in Crawfordsville and lived there until after her marriage to Mr. Smock, also a school teacher. They came to Indianapolis soon after their marriage and lived here until his death a year ago. He retired from the postal service in 1920.  Mrs. Smock was a charter member of the College avenue Baptist Church. Survivors are the daughter, Mrs. Evans and a son, Howard C. Smock of Indianapolis. - kz
